Hello...

We are Steve and Kara from Indiana and we want to thank you for reading our letter. We are honored that you are considering us to be parents to your child. We have the utmost respect for you and admire your courage. We would like to tell you a little about ourselves and welcome you into our family!

We met in 1996 and married in October 1998. Infertility led us to explore open adoption. After many hours of talking and praying, we knew open adoption was the path God has chosen for us.

In October of 2000, we were blessed with our “baby girl,” Audrey Faith. Raising Audrey has brought us joy and happiness! We explore life with a new sense of adventure and thank God everyday for bringing her into our lives! We are very excited for the adventure another child will bring to our lives as well, and know we will love him/her as much as we love Audrey.

About Kara....The thing that most attracted me to Kara was her smile. She is a very together and down to earth person. I could not help but fall in love with someone with a heart as big as hers. Her warm personality allows Audrey and other children to feel special. Kara is a wonderful mom! The attention and love she gives Audrey is, in one word---AWESOME! Making sure every aspect of Audrey’s life is special is, without a doubt, second nature to Kara. Kara is so looking forward to being a mom again and sharing her heart with another child. — STEVE

About Steve....Steve is a very loving and caring person. I fell in love with Steve because of the specialness I feel when I am with him. With his gentleness, Steve gives me a feeling of security. Knowing Steve is always there for me is the best feeling in the world. Having Audrey in his life brings out the best in him, He loves her very much and has room in his heart to share that love with another child. Steve is a great DAD! — KARA

Hi, my name is Audrey and I am 4 years old. I love to play and I am ready to share all my toys and even my dog, Baxter. My biggest wish is to have a brother or sister. I promised Mommy and Daddy, I would help take care of him/her. I will be a great big sister! I practice a lot now with my baby dolls. I know my mommy and daddy have lots of love to give!

We feel this decision you are considering is the ultimate gift of love a mother could feel for her child. We strongly believe your selfless love, along with our overwhelming desire to become parents again, will complete a child’s life and offer him/her the best future that two families can share. We would love to hear from you! Please call toll-free 1-877-264-9017, e-mail us at [email protected] or contact our adoption counselor at the Independent Adoption Center at 1-800-877-OPEN. Warmest regards, Steve. Kara & Audrey Munford

Baxter

My name is Baxter, and I am a 1-year old Shih Tsu. I was adopted this past Christmas and am looking forward to taking long walks and playing in the yard with Audrey and our new addition to the family!

Hobbies & Interests

Our favorite hobby is camping. In April 2004, we purchased a travel trailer and have taken several trips. We have visited various lakes, enjoyed fishing and being outdoors with family and friends. Steve “hooked” Kara on fishing on our honeymoon. Steve received a small fishing boat for Father’s Day last year and has enjoyed spending afternoons and weekends taking Audrey fishing with her Spongebob Squarepants pole and Scooby Doo tacklebox. Boy, can she cast!!! Needless to say, Audrey is also “hooked” and they both look forward to including another child in on the fun! Steve has played golf since he was 11 and takes the opportunity to play as often as possible. When not spending time shopping, you can catch Kara relaxing with a book or decorating. Audrey began her 2nd year of preschool this past October and is doing exceptionally well! She loves doing her homework as soon as she gets home. She is also in her second year of dance, where she enjoys tap and ballet, and enjoys art classes, where she is very creative.

Dreams For Our Future

We are both very committed to turning our dreams into reality. We built our dream home on

2.21 acres in Georgetown, Indiana. We have lots of trees and room for kids to play. The neighborhood is located in the county, where it is very common to see families walking, jogging and riding bikes, but still only 20 minutes from downtown Louisville, Kentucky. There is a park within walking distance, where we also enjoy taking walks and playing tennis. We are also very committed in investing for our future. We believe in giving our children a head-start in life. That is why we have taken, and will again take, steps to ensure our children have every educational opportunity and any other opportunity available.

Family

Family is the most important thing to both of us and we are both especially close to our families. Steve has three brothers; Danny, Donnie and Eric, and one sister, Lisa, who all live within a couple hours drive. We get together on holidays and take time in the summer to plan camping trips or visit so the brothers can have a golf outing. Kara has one brother, Kevin, who lives close by, and we get together often. Audrey loves having her cousins over for sleep-overs! We have three nephews, and six nieces that range from 2 1/2 - 21 years old. We love to play games, color, read books, play baseball and air hockey. We are fortunate to have our mothers, and Kara’s father close by and they plan on playing a big part in our children’s lives. Everyone is thrilled and happily awaiting the new addition to our family!!!

Religion

Kara was raised Church of Christ and Steve was Presbyterian as a small child. After marrying, we attended several churches and have chosen to attend Southeast Christian in Louisville, KY. Southeast Christian has a very good children’s program and Audrey loves going to Church!! We feel God is very important in our lives and want our children to be raised in a Christian home.
