POETIC FORMS
INTRODUCTION
Poetry is the music for the soul. It serves as an inspiration to express one's feelings and moods. This exercise will help you get a grip and understand better the various poetic forms. Furthermore, it will help you appreciate the world of poetry.
Go through each of the questions below and find its answers on the given resource links. Each resource link is used only once to answer one question. After finding all the answers, move to the BIG QUESTION and do the assigned task.
You will work in groups of four. Assign one member of your group to record your answers in a notebook. Assign another member of your group to record a copy of your answers in a 1/2 piece (crosswise) of pad paper to be passed to your teacher.
QUESTIONS
1. What is an ode?
2. Who were the two of the most notable poets who            wrote in the pastoral vein?
3. How does lyric poetry differ from epic poetry and        dramatic poetry?
4. Where was the poetry form of haiku developed?
5. When was epic poetry developed?

Copy from any literature book a poem which illustrates any of the forms mentioned above in a short bond paper. In another page, paraphrase the poem.
