| INTRODUCTION | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Our country is rich in folk tales. Sad to say however, that most of our young people are unaware of the richness of our folk literature. This webquest is designed to help you get to know and appreciate our own folk tales so that you will have a better perspective of our literary heritage. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Task | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| You will work in groups of four members each. You will research on a Filipino folktale whether it is in the Visayan or Filipino language. Your objective is to narrate the folktale in your own words using the English language. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| You will present your final output using StarOffice slide presentation. Be sure to include an illustration of the folktale. if your folktale is unique, it will be placed online in the internet. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Process | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| To carry out your task, the following steps will guide you on what you are supposed to do: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 1. Within your group, divide the work equally among yourselves. Assign a researcher, writer, encoder as well as a recordkeeper. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 2. Research on a Filipino folktale whether oral or written. If the folktale is written in Filipino or in the dialect (Visayan), translate the story into English. If it is already written in English, summarize the folktale in your own words. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 3. For oral folktales, you may have to interview your grandparents, any senior citizen of your locality, or senior relatives for a folktale they know that has been handed down from their previous generation. Translate the folktale into English. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| 4. Be sure to save your work into your electronic folder. You must finish your research until the first week of December, 2006. Your final output must be ready by the second week of December, 2006. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| 6. Once all information has been gathered, encoders must be ready to put it together using StarOffice presentation for the final output. Include an illustration of your folktale using paint accessories. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Evaluation | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Each group member will be given an individual grade and a group grade for the final output. Rubrics will be handed out in the classroom and the project criteria will be discussed by the whole class. Questions pertaining to the project must be raised during the discussion for clarifications. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Group grade will be based on the following: Overall appearance of the final output Collaborative effort made in completing the output Fulfillment of the project criteria |

| By completing this webquest, you have worked well as a group in obtaining knowledge about our Filipino folklore. Learning about our own literature will enrich your own understanding and appreciation of our culture making you feel proud of being a true Filipino through and through. Sharing your own folklore with the rest of the world will build bridges towards better understanding and mutual respect that no matter how diverse our cultures are, we all belong to one human race. |
