Ours is a cross-cultural marriage. My Trinidadian
wife Sharon and I met when she was a final year student in the area of English at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus in 1993.
We left Trinidad and Tobago in 1995 and returned to Papua New Guinea.
Sharon began teaching English at Malala Catholic Upper Secondary School in
1996. She later left teaching to do a post-graduate degree in Arts from the
University of the West Indies completing her studies with an MA in Liberal
Arts, Literatures in English in 1999 and graduated in 2000. She has since
returned to Papua New Guinea to continue her teaching career.

Upon our return to Papua New Guinea I remained
un-employed from 1995 to 1997. I was then employed as a Research Officer with the
Shadow Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock under the Office of the Leader of
Opposition.
After this, I took up employment as Second Secretary with the Ministry
of Mining for some time and later with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
I am considering switching careers in the near future.
