The journey so far - 1982 - 2002

Started my working career with Hamersley Iron in Tom Price. Was there for 2 years. Returned to Perth and worked for the Pioneer Group from 1989 to 1992. In May 1992 I was offered a transfer with Pioneer to Hong Kong and took it. I worked for them in Hong Kong until April 1995 when I started up my own business with a couple of others in HK. We began an asphalt manufacturing and laying business. We tackled some major jobs including the first runway of the new airport at Chek Lap Kok and several major expressways. We turned over a shitload of money although we did not make a lot because our competitors waged a war against us to try and drive us out of business. It didn't work of course. I sold out to my partners at the end of 1998 having had enough of Hong Kong over the 6.5 years there and returned to Perth. I'm now a General Manager of the largest privately owned company in WA. I returned to Perth at the end of 1998 and caught up with a young woman that I had met through Mike Newton on a previous holiday from Hong Kong. He continually takes the credit for this by the way. We got married in April 2001. And we had already had a little girl in September 2000, the folks were not happy but hey who cares!! My wife, Ivy is a senior associate (lawyer) with a top 5 law firm in Perth. Our little girl, Rebecca is now almost 2. Time flies. |
