4) Relativly high screen resolution (picture is large)

3) Low bit rate is used (video begins to look blocky)
4) Low screen resolution (picture is small)

features cannot be made out)

Generations
Definition - A Generation refers to the
number of copies that have been made upon a specific video. i.e.
If I have a direct copy of a video that a friend of mine recorded then
I have a 1st generational copy. This system refers to
VHS recordings specifically but may
refer to other recorded tape formats. When more than 4-5
generations of VHS copying are present the quality begins to be
significanly reduced.
VHS Video Tape - Generational Loss Guidlines
Mild
Generational Loss
Characteristics of mild
generational loss may include:
1)
Colors
begin to get washed out
and become non-specific.
2) Occasional black and white appearance may be present in the
color.
3) Mild blur to picture
4) A watchable video
Moderate
Generational Loss
Characteristics of moderate generational loss may include:
1)
Colors
washed out and
non-specific.
2) Black and white appearance often in the color.
3) Blur/haze to picture.
4) A watchable video but annoying to watch.
Severe
Generational Loss
Characteristics of moderate generational loss may include:

Black and white coloring.
3) Picture out of focus.
4) Recordings for historical puposes only.
Digital
Recordings - Generational Loss Guidlines
There should be no video quality loss with digital
transfers of video recordings (when they are done correctly)
All of the following circumstances qualify my recordings to be named a
Master recording.
- I
recorded a video onto a VHS tape and transfered it to DVD.
- I have a digital
copy (transfer) of a video that I obtained from another collector.
(original sources may vary).
- I digitaly recorded a video onto digital tape or
DVD.
The following abbreviations may be used to identify generational
copies. (these will appear in the Generation colomn)
1) 1st, 2nd, 3rd... = I have a VHS copy of the
generation indicated.
2) V = VHS
3) M = Master
2) Low - my copy is probably a 1st or 2nd
generatioal copy of a VHS tape. Based on my generational loss
guidlines.
3) U = Unknown generational source

OTGH - Old time Gospel Hour - Jerry Falwell's TV broadcast of Thomas
Road Baptist Church.
2) Pro-shot - A professionally recorded video. May include
offically released videos and in house concert recordings.
3) Audience - A video recorded from the audience.
4) TV - A video recoded from a television broadcast.
5) Web - A video dowlaoded from the internet.
6) Music Video - A video created by the artist for a specific
song.
7) EWTN - Etermal Word Television Network
8) EPK - Electronic Press Kit
9) PTL - TBN show called Praise the Lord
10) TBN - Trinity Broadcasting network
11) TRBC - Thomas Road Baptist Church
12) OOP - Out of Print (Commercial video that is no longer
available for purchase)
