David, with his parents, were forced to flee from France because of their Pro-
testant religion. They moved in 1642 to Middleburg, on the isle of Walcheren,
off the coast of Holland where they joined a colony of French and Belgian ref-
ugees. Jean & his family appeared as members of a Protestant church there in
1643. The term "Walloon" refered to Belgian Protestants, and Huguenots to
the French. In 1651 the family was living in Germany on the Rhine river at
Mannheim.
She died young.
