--PERSONA INFO--
Name: Melyna (Meh-LYNN-ah)
Sex: Female
Age: 16 turns
Rank: Sr. Weyrwoman
Place of Birth: Ksatria Weyr
Current Location: Ksatria Weyr

Family: (Parents, siblings, spouses, children, names. ages/ranks/locations) Profella, Mother, 48/Drudge/Ista Hold; Keene, Father, 50/Carpenter/Ista Hold; Katiy, Sister 12/Candidate/Ksatria; Any other relatives are unknown

Physical: (1-2 good sized paragraphs)
Dark-manned, slender, and shapely, Melyna is of an ancient ethnic beauty. Her almost-raven hair falls in open curls to the bottom of her shoulder bones, where it hangs loosely, inhibited by nothing. The curls become tighter as they reach her forehead, one resting upon her brow. Her lovely heart-shaped face is richly tanned like the rest of her body, partly natural, and partly from time spent outdoors. High cheekbones add an elegant touch to her already beautiful features. Her expressively arched eyebrows hover over almond-shaped brown eyes, which dance with her inner light. They can seem to glow at times, and at others, they are hard pools of chocolate. Her dark lashes are framed by the coal eyeliner with which she lines them. Her nose is a graceful line down her eye-catching features, leading to her cupid's bow lips. She has an ancient loveliness of eons ago, quiet, yet holding an inner strength impossible to break or control.

A weaver print shirt, low cut and sleeveless provides a blouse for this young woman. Shades of brown and tan create the horizontal zigzags which make up the pattern. The scoop neck is low enough to reveal her her locket upon bare skin. The plain gold chain and engraved oval complement her shirt, and her natural beauty. Over top of the shirt she wears a cinnamon sweater, it hangs open, showing the shirt underneath. Her pants, made of a very dark tan material, are form fitting, adding to her ensemble. She wears boots made of black leather, and laced up to the very top. Her belt is of a matching shade to her pants, the buckle being a small golden firelizard. Its eyes are little green gems, carefully kept polished and clean. Her wrist are decked in several golden bracelets, a supple chainlink, not like that of charm bracelets.

Personality: (1-2 good sized paragraphs)
Melyna is the type of girl who enjoys the 'simple' things in life. She never expected to become a goldrider. She never really wanted to be a goldrider. Yet, here she is, a goldrider, and there's nothing she can do about it. As a child, she always enjoyed being alone, and simply living the day. Now she finds that she must mingle, and be seen often. The only free time she gets she spends with Orlaith. She's become a more outward type - pausing to talk to this person or that - and finds it easier to make idle chat. She's like a small-town girl, in some ways. She'll always stop people to ask how they, or some relation of theirs, are doing. Melyna is very sweet-natured. She's always calm - well, almost always - and very rational about things.

She's having a bit of trouble with the concept of being a Jr. Weyrwoman, however. She's afraid of making mistakes, and displeasing the Weyrwoman. Her self-esteem isn't very high, and she's afraid to do anything administrative, in case it be wrong. She needs time to grow and adjust to the position, and hopefully the Weyrfolk will help her with that. Meanwhile, she's still as kind as ever, if somewhat quiet. Watch out for the young woman who scampers away from her knots.

History: (2-3 good sized paragraphs)
Benden Weyr was gone. Everyone knew it, everyone wept...and yet there was nothing they could do about it. The place was simply missing. Profella and Keene were two of the few folks who hadn't had any friends or family from the Weyr. But that didn't mean that they didn't morn...certainly not. Keene was actively involved in the building of Ksatria; he was often heard saying the place was, "a ray of hope in a darkening time." He firmly believed that Ksatria was important to everyone, even to himself. Profella - his wife - moved with him to Ksatria, where they continued to help out the new Weyr. Several turns later, Profella gave birth to a daughter, whom they dubbed Armelyna. Profella claimed that the Weyr - although wonderful - was much to hectic for her daughter. They relocated to Ista Hold, their previous home.

Armelyna grew up among the holdbrats, but she never really fit in. This was not truly noticeable until she reached her teen years. She was more of a recluse; preferring her own company to that of others. She was rational, calm, and quiet. Her parents didn't even know what to think. Their second daughter - two years Armelyna's junior - was loud, obnoxious, and didn't think for a moment before she acted. Although the two were of such contrasted personalities, Armelyna's only friend was her sister. Only a few days before Armelyna's 14th turnday, a dragonrider arrived at the hold. She announced that she was on search, and proceeded to look at every girl and boy in the hold. Armelyna didn't pay her any mind. Profella and Keene both came from families without any dragonrider blood, and so Armely didn't expect to be searched.

Of course, she was startled when the green dragon poked her nose in her direction, and announced to the rider that Armelyna was to be a candidate. Not a gold candidate, but a candidate just the same. Her parents were at first against the idea, but Armely reassured them that it must've been a mistake, and she would be back soon after the eggs hatched. They finally agreed, and Armelyna left for the Weyr. The first candidate she met upon arriving at Ista Weyr was Priee - a bouncy bubbly sort who liked Armelyna's quietness. After all, it gave her more time to talk. Armelyna didn't really consider Priee as a friend, but she liked her well enough, and they spend much time together during candidacy. There were many others, though only one more was memorable: Brujon. He was a cocky young man, who thought he was the prize catch around the Weyr. However, besides meeting a few friendly people, candidacy was rather boring for Armelyna. It was simply the same thing she did back at the hold...chores, chores, and more chores.

Finally, the day of the hatching arrived, and Armelyna was as calm as ever. She marched out onto the sands, leaving the gold candidates around the gold egg, and stood next to Priee. Brujon was the first to impress, becoming Br'jon of bronze Ridyoth. She recognized some of the other impressees, while some were completely unfamiliar to her. Finally, there were only two eggs left. One was the gold egg, and the other was a mottled red. It began to shake, and the head that soon poked its way out was green. A moment later, the queen burst out in her regal glory. Armelyna didn't really bother to examine the queen - she wasn't gold material - but she watched the green very attentively. It was much to her surprise, when the dragonet's head appeared in front of her! She stared, watching the little green, but nothing happened. The green looked to the right, and seemed to see something there that frightened her. She moved off to the left, and promptly impressed to Priee. Priee and Lyrrisith. Armelyna tried to feel happy for the other young woman, but she couldn't. Even though she knew the odds were against her, she had been wishing to impress. Hopelessly, she glanced towards her right, where the gold candidates stood. They were all staring at her.

Something bumped against her legs, and Armelyna looked down. It was the gold. [[Hello Melyna,]] the gold said, eyes whirling a deep purple of content. [[I am Orlaith.]] Melyna gasped, and laid one hand upon the queens' head. "She says her name is Orlaith!" So began the life of Ista's newest golden pair: Armelyna - now Melyna - and Orlaith.

The Weyrwoman herself came to escort them off the sands, for everyone was more than a bit startled by the gold's choice. It had never happened before. Golds always chose the gold candidates, and never anyone else. Melyna's parents knew nothing of her impression. They heard of the young woman who impressed the gold, but her name was Melyna, not Armelyna. And the poor gold Weyrling herself had no time to write to them. Weyrlinghood passed rather quickly, and for Melyna, it was much like candidacy. Chores, chores, and more chores. The only difference was Orlaith. The gold was Melyna's soul, and her reason for trying as hard as she did. But no matter how hard Melyna tried, she never felt like she did well enough. She was quiet, and still shy...definitely not right for administrative duties. However, the Weyrwoman had faith in her.

Graduation day came, and Melyna was a mess. She was going to become a Jr. Weyrwoman, and she was certain that she wouldn't be able to do it. She received her knots, and was told to report to the Weyrwoman's office. Whatever she had expected, it was much worse. The Weyrwoman had received a letter from Ksatria Weyr, asking for a Jr. Weyrwoman. Instead of choosing one of the older, more experienced Weyrwomen, Melyna had been picked. The young Weyrwoman managed to stay calm while she was told of her assignment, but that night was a different story. She tossed and turned, unable to sleep. Would she be able to do it? Would she be a good Jr. Weyrwoman?

The new day dawned, and Melyna and Orlaith left their home, headed for a new Weyr. Melyna was startled to find that Priee and Br'jon were going with her. Soon, though, she was glad of it. The three friends would be together at Ksatria. Faranth only knows what is in store for them there.

--DRAGON INFO--
Name: Orlaith (OR-lath, meaning golden princess)
Color: Gold
Age: 2 turns
Sire/Dam: N/A - Transfer
Where Impressed: Ista Weyr

Physical: (good sized paragraph)
Brilliant tones of gold sweep over her hide, attracting the eye to learn more of its intricacies. A darker, almost bronzen color defines her well-muscled underbelly. The blinding tone of radiant sunlight cascades down from her neck, deepening in shade as it reaches her tail. Betwixt these marvelous hues are small, obscure differences. When studied closer, the radiant sunlight becomes smaller beams of changing color. Here, a brilliant, sun-captured gold, and here, the darkened hue of the descending star. Her size - although not large for a queen - is impressive, and somewhat daunting. Golden wings shine with their own beauty, and the powerful muscles within them are clearly visible. Her eyes are bright, and watch the world through their many facets. A truly magnificent creature, from her golden snout, to her bronzed tail.

Personality: (good sized paragraph)
She is a calm, intelligent, and mystical creature. She does not ask many questions, for the answers are clear to her. This queen makes a study of people and dragons, learning their habits, and becoming familiar with how they function. Once she is grown, she will be able to pick out a villain a mile away. She's very much into self-improvement, and works on Melyna in the same way. Her first quest is to help Mely to believe in herself, and in her potential as a goldrider. This gold will always be cordial, unless provoked. She is fiercely protective of Melyna, and any attempts to injure her rider - mentally or physically - will be ended immediately. However, this does not mean that she herself will not criticize Mely, if it means teaching her something about leadership. When she's proddy, it will be a personality overhaul. She'll stop being the girl-next-door, and become a flirtatious dragon, with a scathing tongue. It can be expected that many of the males will run away when they see her coming. Overall, she's a patient, smart dragon, who only wants the best for her rider.

--PET INFO--
Name: Kipper
Species: Firelizard
Color: Green
Age: 1 turn
Physical: (good sized paragraph)
Shimmering tones of emerald enfold the hide of this creature. Her head is graced with a lighter tone, almost mossy in color, while the rest of her body is draped in darker shades. The headnobs of this green are large and conspicuous, almost appearing to be rounded ears. Whirling eyes peer out from beneath dusky eyeridges. Her spars and wingsails are tinged with olive, adding stripes to her already exotic flavor. Razor claws of silver can been seen in her feet, and a tail of leafy green extends behind her. Even at birth, this green is large for her color, making her sinuous stripes more prominent. Her movements are fluid, with almost feline grace.

Personality: (good sized paragraph)
It isn't hard to guess how Kipper got thrown in with Melyna and Orlaith. She's a real sweetheart, who loves her pet, and loves to see her happy. She'll perform acrobatic feats in the air, if only to make her smile. When she's upset, Kipper'll come to her, crooning, and nuzzle up against her. When she's mad, this little green's there to protect her, angry and trumpeting. All in all, she's the best friend a woman could ever have. ('Sides her dragon, that is.)
