Missing the sound of your
whimsical laughter
as I run playfully after
you through the towering
wildflower meadow.
Missing the smile which
quickly appears
after my gentle kiss
washes the tears
from your streaked
angelic face.
Missing the snuggle time
reading a book
while watching your eyes
hungrily look
at the fantasy appearing
before you.
Missing the feel of your soft
gentle touch
and my good morning kiss
and wanting so much
to brush against your
silky skin.
Missing your voice as you moan
and complain
as I try so hard to
diplomatically explain
why you cannot perform
such a dangerous deed.
Missing the stopping of my
heart when I see
you "trick jump" your
bike in front of me,
narrowly escaping harm.
Missing the schedules of
practices and games
as we hurry to and from
the countless names
of sports and activities
you have come to adore.
Missing our mornings as we
aimlessly walk
through the park and
confidently talk
about our hopes and wants
and dreams.
Missing the door chimes as
your streams of friends
come visiting, with
a flow that never ends
into your room to
chatter and laugh.
Missing the phone which
constantly rings
off the wall only
to find that it brings
another call for my
little one.
Missing the negatives I hear
you express
at the orders I
give about changing your dress
to something a
little more "suitable."
Missing the day that I hear
you say "Hi!"
and "I love you!"
and until then I cry
and await to find
all that I am missing
