She doesn't have many friends because she has the ability to heal wounds, which everyone thinks is gross, but her only real friend is Chibiusa. Her mother (Keiko Tomoe) was killed in a lab accident and was possessed by Mistress 9. Her father is Professor Souichi Tomoe, villain in Sailor Moon S, who was seeking the Holy Grail which would help him take over the world. Hotaru was reborn as a baby at the end of the Sailor Moon S series, and appeared as a baby at the start of the Sailor Stars series, when she gave Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto their super power-ups. She grew up fast, being a 4 year old child by the end of the first episode, and her "regular" age after the second episode. As Sailor Saturn, she is the strongest senshi after Sailor Moon in terms of powers. She has the ability to destroy the world if she pleases. Her defensive skills are as good as her offensive skills. Sailor Saturn came to be after she overcame Mistress 9. This caused tension between the Inner and Outer Senshi because the Outer Senshi wanted to kill Sailor Saturn. Sailor Saturn came back in Sailor Stars, by making an appearence to Hotaru, and helped her regain her memories from Sailor Moon S. Sailor Saturn's fuku consists of a purple skirt, a purple collar with ruffled shoulder sleeves, a purple choker, a dark burgundy bow on the front with a spiky white crystal mounted on it, and a dark burgundy bow on the back. When she becomes Super Sailor Saturn, the bow on her back becomes longer, her button becomes a heart, her sleeves become similar to the other senshi, one transparent of course, and her choker has a star. She wears purple knee-high laced boots and gloves reaching her elbows with a purple trim. She also wears white ball earrings with a diamond shaped crystal hanging from it. Her tiara has a white jewel on it.
