Western Meadowlark
Hitchhiker
Released May 2, 2004
The Western Meadowlark is considered a "short-range" migrator, and it can be found from British Columbia to Mexico.  It has a distinctive black "V" on its yellow throat.

This bird was noted by Lewis and Clark during their exploration of the west.

The Western Meadowlark is the state bird of Kansas, along with five other states (only the Cardinal is more popular as a state bird).
