DEPARTMENTAL RULES
BEHAVIOUR
– DEPARTMENTAL RULES
- The
History Department follows the School Policy on behaviour and adopts both
its own and the School sanctions, as applicable.
- Within
the classroom, students are expected to behave in a manner that is conducive
to a good learning and teaching environment.
- Certain
practices are expressly discouraged. These include (but are not limited to)
: calling out, talking when either the teacher or another student is
talking, disturbing your neighbours, entering or leaving the room in an
unsuitable manner, writing on the desks, chewing, eating or drinking in
lessons, using a mobile phone or any mp3 player or ipod within the
lesson, being late for the lesson, misusing any school equipment (including
textbooks and exercise books).
- Homework
is expected to be completed on time and handed in as required by the
teacher.
- Any
unacceptable behaviour may result in detention or some other form of
sanctions.
If you are away for a lesson, it is YOUR responsibility to ensure that you catch
up with any missed work.
HISTORY
EXERCISE BOOK – DEPARTMENTAL RULES
(to
be stuck inside your exercise book)
- YOU
are responsible for this exercise book. It is up to you to make sure that
you keep it in good order.
- The
only writing that should be on the cover of your book is the following :
Your name, form, subject and teacher. There should NOT be anything else.
- Whilst
you may like pretty decorations on your book, we like the look of nice,
clean books.
- Inside
your book, we expect you to take some care over the presentation.:
(a)
You should always date every piece of work
(b)
You should underline titles and dates with a ruler
(c)
You should only write in BLACK or BLUE ink, unless told otherwise by your
teacher.
(d)
You should take care over your written work. Remember that it must be
neat enough so that the teacher can actually read it.
(e)
You should think before you start writing and take care over spellings,
especially of historical terms, or words on the board or in the textbook.
(f)
If you are told to stick something in, you must make sure that it is
stuck in properly.
(g)
Any illustrations should be drawn neatly and should not be squashed into
a small space so that the illustration looks untidy or cramped.
- Your
book should be handed in every time that homework is set. You are
responsible for ensuring that your book is handed in. If you fail to hand
your book in, without a good reason, you may be placed in detention.
- Under
no circumstances should you tear any pages out of your book.
- If
there is any work missing, your teacher will write in your book that you
must do this work or, in some cases, that you need to copy this work from
someone else. You
will be expected to have done this by the next time your book is collected
in.
- If
a piece of work is not of a satisfactory standard, your teacher will tell
you that the work must be redone by the next time the book is handed in.
So treat your book with respect, take care over your presentation, and ensure
that all work is completed and homeworks
handed in.
HISTORY
TEXT BOOK – DEPARTMENTAL RULES
- YOU
are responsible for any textbook issued to you. It
is up to you to make sure that you keep it in good order.
- The
only writing that you should add is your name and form on the book sticker
inside the front cover. You should NEVER write anything else either inside
the book or on the cover.
- Whilst
you may like pretty decorations on your book, we like the look of nice,
clean books.
- When
you are issued a book, your teacher will ask you for the book number and
then ask you to sign a sheet saying that you have received that book.
- When
the teacher collects all the books back in, you will be expected to return
the book issued to you (the number will be checked). If you hand in a
different numbered book, we shall still expect you to hand in the actual
book that was issued to you.
- If
you fail to hand in the book issued to you, or if the book is in a state
where it can not be reused, you will be charged for that textbook.
Remember
it is YOUR responsibility to look after your textbooks, to return the correct
one and to return it in a good state.
