About the Kansas Second Amendment Society
The Kansas Second Amendment Society is a political action committee with one overriding goal: To support the Constitution and the Bill of Rights for the benefit of all citizens. To this end, we support candidates for political office who share our ideals.
We believe in the fundamental rights of individuals to keep and bear arms for self-defense, sport or any other traditional and lawful purpose.
We believe laws that restricting the rights guaranteed by the United States and Kansas Constitutions do not lead to safer society. It is our considered opinion that such laws only prevent responsible, honest citizens from having the means to protect themselves, their families and society. Such restrictive laws serve to assure that the criminal will be the only armed person present at a crime of violence.
We believe that armed citizens deter crime and that citizens with concealed weapons are the best deterrent because the criminal will not be able to select easy victims. The majority of States now have a "shall issue" concealed weapons system in law, and those States have enjoyed a reduction in violent crime since the passage of those laws. These beliefs have been proven as fact as can be learned from reading MORE GUNS/LESS CRIME by Prof. John Lott.
We support candidates for office and we testify before legislative bodies in order to bring our knowledge, experience and expertise to all Kansas lawmaking agencies.
