THE PRESIDENT'S CORNER
Brian Carter, KCØDWXOur next meeting for MAARS will be May 13th at 7:30 P.M. at the Red Cross in Manhattan. We have been asked by the Red Cross to provide communications at the Red Cross Triathlon which will be held on June 5th. This is a Sunday and the triathlon begins at 7:30 A.M. I think we should make an effort to help out with this event, but if we decide to do this it needs to be done well. We have also been asked about communications for the Country Stampede and I informed them that this is the same weekend as ARRL Field Day.
We will also need to form a committee to discuss Field Day and make the plans for the event. Hopefully we can have some turnout for this event as well as have participation. Let's make sure that we not only are there and set up radios, but that we use them as well.
For our eating meeting this month we will go to Sirloin Stockade in Manhattan. We hope to see you there at around 5:30 P.M. All amateurs and guests are welcome.
Brian Carter, KCØDWX

ARRL DUES NEW FROM ARRL - Beginning October 1, 2001, our club will receive $15 for each new member joining the ARRL through our club. This is for new members or those who have not been a member for two or more years. There will be no commission for renewals but we still may submit your renewals, if you wish. Since the club retains the dues, it is necessary for you to write your check to MAARS, and then the treasurer writes a check to ARRL.
MAARS DUES Dues will be due by Oct. 31 and are: regular membership $20, full-time student $10, family $30. Please complete the following when renewing your membership, even if you did so last year. Return to the Treasurer, at a meeting or to MAARS, P. O. Box 613, Manhattan, KS 66505-0613. If you are currently receiving both the email and paper copy of the newsletter, please consider just receiving the email copy. It will save the club $5-6.00 per year per copy.
