The Belfast Page
So I was born in Belfast on the 19th September 1979 and lived there until I had to leave to go to university.  But y'know, Belfast is where I'm from, it's part of who I am, and I think that it's one of the prettiest cities in the world.  So here's some photos from the people who make N.I. what it is...
So this is me and my family (sans older sister) in Menorca in 1996.  Long hair always seems like a good idea at the time, right?  Anyway, I'm really happy with my family and the way things have all worked out.  Including losing the long hair...
This is the South Belfast 1980's nostalgia section - Supermac!!  Who could forget this, the greatest of independant supermarkets in south Belfast, handily placed for buying ice cream during Tennis club on summer mornings, or generally hanging out and staring at the shop assistants.  Many a teenage crush started (and stopped) within these hallowed aisles. This photo was taken in 1996, before they ripped it down to build a Sainsbury's supermarket and mall. Advantages of Sainsbury's - it's open all night.  Disadvantages- it's not Supermac man.....
Music was very important to us as we grew up (cos there was so little else to do?) and it wasn't long before the kids started forming bands.  this was perhaps the first incarnation of False Dawn, but I really can't rememeber what the hell we called ourselves.  Frankly, if Geggsie was in the band, the name was probably disgusting.  We looked bad and we sounded even worse,  being able to play 3 instruments between us.  And one of those was keyboard drums.  But, y'know, it kept us off the streets, or kept us busy when it was too dark to play football at the factories.
