Looks nice doesn't it! Well looks can be deceiving - I bought this bike for 500 - it was a shed, it didnt run, had badly damaged brakes and it had more broken body panels than the Morris Minor ever did. Not a single panel had survived its short life intact. The bike itself is a grey import and as such lived in Japan for most of its life before moving to sunny (yeah right) Wales! |

The bike sat in my garage for about 6 months until one day when I had a motorbike accident. I came off the Virago on a back road which wouldn't have been so bad but one of my mates following me couldn't stop in time and managed to run over both my legs so after I hobbled out of casualty I went home and without being able to move I got very very bored! After a few weeks of sketching and designing my legs were getting better and I could get about a bit more easily so I stripped the VFR down to her chassis and engine. I realized the engine didn't run because the previous owner had trapped all the HT leads between the fairing mounts and had cut all the leads with a fairing bolt. After replacing them the bike fired up and ran perfectly first time. |

With the mechanicals sorted it was time to make her look pretty so I set about her bodywork (oohh err missus) with some paint and a few ideas to make what you see below. I have no idea where the idea for the paintwork came from but I was playing Soul Reaver at the time on the PC and I think it stuck in my head. The tank and seat unit graphics were painted by hand by me while I was still recovering from almost having my legs removed. Anything not moving in my house gets painted :o) She is now up for sale so if you're interested e-mail me from the menu page. well it seems that no-one want to buy my VFR cant say as i blame them as the price of insureing it is sky high at the moment. so as these things happen it may end up being the front end of a future trike project! ive even thought about using the tank as part of the trike too. im looking to biuld a VW based trike that looks more like a very low chopper shape . |
