1968 Morris Minor
With the biuld started at long last it was time to check over everything
I stripped the engine out totally and stripped most of it down and reconditioned it includeing the fuel pump and even the wiper motor (i got carried away).

Haveing delt with a few bad areas of rust in the engine bay already it was time to slap some paint on it .Ive never gone the the trouble of makeing and engine bay look nice  i dont really see the point! My engines are all functional which if you ask me is alot better . Knowing this car will never be a show winner (and i dont really want it to be!) and will be on the road in wind rain snow and hail (basicly all the weather i cant drive the buggy or bikes in) it seemed a little pointless to go to town on makeing the engine look pretty.

But remember what i said on this site before "if it sits still too long it gets painted" well with no money to buy any nice parts for the engine and no inclination to spend big money on a old marina lump i got out my spray gear and brushes.I dont really have much choice as i want to forward hinge the bonnet and the only way anyone is going to see that is by me haveing the bonnet open ....bugger!
The whole engine bay was brush painted in hammerrite ,The engine was given a quick coat of black engine paint and the rocker cover and air cleaner where ermmmmm errrr made to look daft LOL!

The eagle eyed folks out there might notice my radiator is missing well thats because when i stripped it out i found a hole the size of a coffee mug in the core (oops) im going to have to find a scrapped A series engine and nick its radiator.

You can see it yet but the gearbox has been painted too , BRIGHT RED! why? well i had bright red sitting in my garage THATS why! I think ill paint the radiator that colour too that way i will at least have a fighting chance of making this engine look ok!
The engine does work although its going to be a while before i can fire it up. It will need new  hoses and also rewireing before that ever happens .

My first attempt to fire her up almost caused a fire in the old (and totally knackered) wireing loom. Plus rewireing her will allow me to make the engine bay look a bit more pretty (did i really just type that?) not to mention all the new eqiupment can be wired in properly, And i wont have to deal with 30 years of other peoples bad wireing (spot the bare wires in the bottom right of this photo running past the EXHAUST!?!??!)
