History

The League match between Manchester United and Arsenal on 17 January 1948 holds the record for a League attendance in England (83,260). The game was played at Maine Road (Manchester City's ground) because of war damage to Old Trafford.

Arsenal won a record-equalling 6th Championship after leading the table all season.

Manchester United won the FA Cup after playing First Division clubs in every round.
