The Farina Story
The name Farina conjures one of the most legendary families involved in the design and coach building of celebrated Italian marquees.

STABILIMENTI FARINA of Turin was founded in 1906 by Giovanni Farina.  It was famous for the design and coach building of early models by Fiat, Lancia, Cisitalia, Ferrari, and Alfa Romeo including coupes and cabriolets, such as this 6C 2500.

AlfredoVignale, while at Stabilimenti Farina, designed the 1947 Cisitalia 202 MM (Mille Miglia).  It was a competition version of the standard 202 model and led the Mille Miglia in that year.

Farina also produced the Cisitalia 202D coupe, constructed in aluminum, as a successor to the legendary 202.

Stabilimenti Farina was also responsible for the coach building of certain early Ferrari models, including this Ferrari 166 Inter Coupe.

One of Giovanni Farina's last constructed automobiles was this hand built light alloy bodied Lancia Aurelia B50 coupe.

Unfortunately, in 1951, Stabilimenti Farina closed its doors after forty-five illustrious years.

Giovanni's younger (and more famous) brother, Battista "Pinin" Farina, began his career in automobile design at Stabilimenti Farina, and later left the family business to form his own design concern,  CARROZZERIA PININFARINA, a key designer of some of the most memorable Italian designs of the 1950s through the 1970s, including the pictured Alfa Romeo Giulietta/Giulia Spiders, Duetto Spider, Ferrari 250 SWB, 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso, 365 Daytona, 365 Berlinetta Boxer, Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider, Fiat Dino Spider and of course the well-received Fiat Spider.
