windmills________________
u must be able to do most of the footworkin steps and definitely lots of freezes w/out thinkin to be able to do windmills. the starting position is very awkward, and this itself may take sum time to get used to. u should be able to hold urself in this position basically forever in order to do windmills

starting position:
get in a pushup position wit ur legs spread. ur legs must be spread and straight the whole time u do windmills in order for them to look good and maintain momentum. take ur left hand, and point it backwards underneath u, and have ur left elbow stick into ur gut, a lil bit to the left of ur belly button. u must be comfortable wit where ur elbow is sticking cuz it's gonna act as a lever that's gonna support more than half of ur body weight. ur right hand is gonna be a lil to the right of ur head. now lift ur left foot off the ground and raise it in the air. lower ur head to the ground, and turn it to the right so ur lookin at ur right hand. practice supporting ur body weight on ur hands by lifting ur right foot off the ground and keep that in the air. right now, u should have ur head and hands on the ground, ur right a lil bit to the right of ur head and ur left stickin in ur gut. ur head can stay on the ground for stability, once u get used to this position u won't need ur head there, so u won't hafta worry about slamming ur head into the ground by accident
  1. as u lift ur right foot off the ground, kick ur left leg under it hard. when u lift ur right leg, don't just lift it, but try to kick it backwards and to ur left
  2. u will find ur body twisting, wit ur head turning to the right. instead of just falling to the floor, use ur right arm as a support to quickly, but smoothly, lower ur left shoulder to the ground
  3. u should have kicked ur legs hard enough in the beginning so they're still makin u spin, and this should cause u to roll over ur shoulders, from ur left 1 to ur right
  4. as u start rolling onto ur right shoulder, kick ur right leg hard under ur left and up. this should cause ur legs to go upwards. this is important because this is the hardest part of doin windmills-linking them. if u don't kick them up, they will just hit the ground and u'll land in a pushup position. wit ur feet in the air, u should roll over, puttin ur left hand on the ground and ur elbow back in ur gut. this will take LOTS of practice, cuz a) it's hard to kick the right leg up when ur momentum and gravity is pullin u down and b) u need to put ur elbow in ur gut, not off to the side, and ur arm must be bent, so ur elbow is high. once u feel ur left elbow going into ur gut, use ur right hand to push the right side of ur body off the ground. remember, linking them in the hardest part of doin them, so don't be surprised if ur stuck on this last step for a while
click here to c a vid of windmills. he doesn't start exactly the way described here, he's just sorta diving into the ground instead of pushing off from the ground. notice how he's gotta stick his elbow back into his stomach and sorta roll over that every time he rolls from his shoulders onto his front
