FIJI
Navala is a very picturesque village on the island of Vitu Levu.  On the banks of the Ba River and wthin the Rairaimatuku Plateau, Navala is known as one of the most beautiful Fijian villagesIn an effort to preserve the traditional way of life they still live in Bure's (thatched huts).  A mandate set in place by the village chief helps preserve its true heritage and culture.  Most of the villagers are farmers.  They grow craps such as kava, taro, cassava, and yams.  A lot of the harvest is to feed the villagers, the rest is for sale at the local market in a town near by called Ba.  The village is quite large with over 900 people residing there.  There is church and primary school within the village.  Once primary school is completed, the students can further study in cities such as the capital Suva, or they can become farmers.
