THEY'RE RED HOT!

After graduating at Fairfax High in 1980 the three life long friends and brothers, Anthony Keidis, Flea (Micheal Balzary), and Hillel Slovack persued their dream of being the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Playing at clubs and bars, the crowds loved their extreme energy and new sound. Then one night while playing at a strip club the band did something that would change them forever.  The crowd was cheering for an encore and the wild Chili Peppers decided to go out on stage with nothing but tubesocks on, well you know where. Only a short time after they landed their first record deal.
Casual drug use was always happening in the band but soon it took its turn for the worse. Anthony and Hillel were addicted to Heroine. They decided to stick together and overcome their addiction together. But after the band finished its tour the members went their seperate ways for a few weeks. Hillel just could not survive without the support of Anthony. He called his brother knowing he was going to do Heroine. The next day Hillel was found in his apartment overdosed on Heroine and Cocaine. The rest of the band couldn't take it. Their drummer at the time quick and Anthony took a vacation to a small island off the shores of Mexico, though he didn't stop using. Finally Anthony came back to L.A and signed himself into a drug rehab center. He and Flea knew that they were not done.
To find a new lead guitarist they didn't have to go far. Their biggest fan, John Fruciante. They called him up and asked if he wanted to join the band, John was so overwhelmed he jumped up and put foot prints six feet up on his apartment wall. The band held tryouts for a new drummer. The last guy to try out was Chad Smith, he just blew the band away and was immediatly in.
The band went on to move into a house all together and make it their recording studio. They went on to record Blood Sex Surgar Majik which would sell over 8 million copies. During that recording session Anthony wrote a poem called Under The Bridge and Flea and John wrote music too it. Before they knew it it was the bands greatest hit. The band went on touring. John did not like the idea that the band was only good because they were selling records and he decided to quit the band the night of a big show. The convinced him to play that night but the next day he was gone.
About three months after leaving the band John was addicted to Heroine even though he never even sampled the drug before quitting. Flea kept in concact with him the whole time. While the guiatarist of Janes Addiction , Dave Navarrow filled in for John , John was dying. The band was there for John even when he was out of his mind. They helped him through the whole thing. They didn't want to loose another friend. Then in 1998 Anthony, Flea, and Chad asked John what he thought of being in the band again. Overwhelmed with joy John accepted the invitation. The band went straight to the studios and recorded their latest album Californication. That album pretty much tells their stories and tales of their rough past time. The band is now on tour and in full energy and won't be going anywhere for a long time.
