Northern Dwarves are sturdy folk who are thought to be the descendants of the Thargisn mining slaves… Old stones short and stalwart creatures who never had a chance to see the light of day, and who were forced to work underground in order to extract the fine metals and precious stones required by the Thargian society... These beings are robust and extremely resilient… They enjoy good food and drink, basically the simple pleasures in life, although they can take things seriously and can prove to be the best allies or most feared foes… They usually live in underground dens and lairs… They are specialists when it comes to evaluating precious stones and minerals, and excel in metallurgy… Indeed, their blacksmiths are almost the most renowned on the Continent, especially for forging armour and weapons… They are also some of the most skilled architects and civil engineers and have been involved in most large constructions of the Empire for centuries… This skill also comes into play in battle, where they are by far the most effective on the Continent at siege warfare… They are mainly located in the Durncrag Mountains, where they have found a great deal of rare and precious materials for the confection of their art… The Northern Dwarves are heavily involved in trade with their Elven neighbours in Mengelia, but usually spend the rest of their time fighting their sworn enemies: the Kadrur, the Nashgor and the Mardor, all evil humanoid beings from the fire pits of the South…
Demeanour: Northern Dwarves are sociable amongst their kin and occasionally with their Elf neighbours… A part from that they keep very much to themselves, the Vokdar Garrison being the main exception… They are loyal and proud as well as being brutal towards their foes…
Appearance: Short and stocky with proportionally large heads, hands and feet. Males are usually bearded, females are a lot slimmer… Hair and eye colour vary greatly…
