Darvanne Dwarves are the direct descendants of the Mining Slaves of old… Their eyesight is excellent in the dark and underground… They have always refused allegiance to the Empire and claimed their independence many centuries ago… The Darvanne are a cruel race, twisted and bitter through hundreds of years of isolation… Their dialect has become the common tongue of Karnarcos as it expresses opposition to the Empire in clear and harsh terms… These beings are the cousins of the Northern Dwarves but are tainted by their devotion to the dark arts, chaos and demonic practices… They dwell in the South, where they stand to defend their black stone keeps… Some of them have turned towards the black arts of evil magic, binding the destructive powers of these spells to the weapons and objects that they have forged in their fire pits… Their cursed weapons and armour are priceless, but carry with them a penalty in the North under the Empire, as they can only be used for evil… They are also renowned for their knowledge of the dark paths to the lairs of the most foul creatures ever to have dragged themselves from the light of day… They are known to be fearsome foes and should never be underestimated because of their size… Their pale white pupils add to their evil appearance and they shun daylight… They are known to have signed treaties with a host of foul creatures such as Goblins, Orcs and worse… These agreements are often broken and they are said to have massacred huge numbers of Goblins in the Darkcrag Range… They somehow managed to play one clan against another thus weakening their foes with the "divide and conquer" approach… They treat their smaller cousins the Nirkar Dergs with hatred and use a great deal of them as slaves…
Demeanour: Brutal, cruel and paranoid… Darvanne are bitter and hateful beings who take this out on the weak and unsuspecting whenever the can…
Appearance: Short and stocky much like their Northern cousins… Males have black, grey or white beards… Their eyes are white, totally adapted to the dark…
