1927 **** 139 mins.
Wings is the first motion picture ever to win the Oscar for Best Picture (1927-1928). As the silent film era was drawing to a close, this film used the medium to tell a war story on a wonderful scale. The battle sequences are memorable and superb, and the story is heartfelt and moving. The film could have been cut a bit shorter and been a bit better, but this is stilla classic of film history.
