This is an exceptionally, magnificent stylized spaghetti western that succeeds in many, many ways. However, it is heavilly flawed, and it is the flaws that bring it down. Many parts in the middle seem to be a bit redundant, and well, let's face it, the sound effects editing is just terrible. The music by Ennio Morricone is magnificent and unforgettable, Clint Eastwood's performance (as well as all of the others) is remarkable, and the direction by Sergio Leone is worthy of many, many praises. In spite of its flaws and imperfections, this is still a fantastic, historical film that will never lose its power.
