There is no denying the artistic value of Baz Luhrmann's film William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet. While a few of the performances seem to lag (i.e. John Leguizamo as Tybalt), this film is a highly entertaining updating of the classic tale, as set on Verona Beach with guns instead of swords. However, the dialogue remains the same as Shakespeare originally wrote it. This film truly shows that Shakespeare will never die. His words are immortal and meaningful no matter where, or when, they are set.
