This was no where near as good as I thought it was going to be, considering it's on the American Film Institute's list of the 100 Greatest American Films. I think this film would have been a lot better if the last hour of it was cut out. I mean, the film seemed to have an ending 40 minutes into the film. Everything from that point on was redundant. We already knew how it was going to end. Also, at parts, it seemed as though the characters were going to break out into singing. So many scenes were scored, directed, and photographed in such a way that it felt like it was being set up for a musical number. In other words, this film would make a great musical play.
This film is not a bad film, though. It's still entertaining, and the chemistry between each of the couples is remarkable. That's what truly gives the viewer a reason to watch this film. This film still has to be deemed a classic, even though it may have its flaws.
