1968 **1/2 145 mins.
The main problem with this film is this: it is a film that will appeal only to kids, but it contains words that kids will not understand. By the time you're old enough to understand some of the words and ironies, you no longer enjoy this film's utter stupidity. The first hour of this film is fantastic. I'll admit that. For the first hour, the viewer is whisked away into a wonderful little film about an inventor and his children who meet a charming woman. Once the film drifts from reality into fantasy, though, it becomes preposterous, and not in a good way as was originally intended. It's almost sad to realize that the guy who created this film also created James Bond. All in all, this film is enjoyable to a certain degree and is very fun. Just don't go looking for anything special or artistic.
