1998 Year in Review
The 1998 Winston Cup season seemed to just fly by. Jeff Gordon won his 3rd Winston Cup Championship, Dale Earnhardt finally won the Daytona 500 in his 20th attempt, Jeremy Mayfield won his first race, Kenny Irwin won the Raybestos Rookie of the Year, Bill Elliott was voted the Most Popular Driver for the 13th year (8 straight years), and Ricky Rudd wins one race to keep his streak of 1 every year for 16 years alive! Also, in the Busch series rookie driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. wins the championship over Matt Kenseth, and in Trucks Ron Hornaday is the first to win 2 Craftsman Truck Championships with his win over series rival Jack Sprague.
