WHATS ON: Today the students will be assigned groups in order to prepare for their
Graceland film project.  this lesson is meant to get the students started with thinking about collaborating and creating an original film work based on a scene from the novel.  Today students will brainstorm and think about a scene from the novel that could be effectively set to film, given the available student reseources.

WHAT TO DO: When students walk into the room, they will be asked to break into the groups of four that the teacher reads off to the class, when this is done, the film assignment will be discussed.  The students will be told that they are to create, shoot, and edit a 10-15 minute scene that must be based on a part of
Graceland. Students will be asked to brainstorm ideas for an effecive scene, and students will be urged to consider what they've learned about film so far and how these terms come into play as they decide on which scene to create.  Students will be given 15 minutes to decide which scene they will be creating.  As they are doing so, the teacher will be circulating the room and approving each scene decision.
When this ativity is finished, the groups will be asked to create a film treatment for their scene.  This treatment will be due in three days from the whole group.  At this point, students are to begin working on this treatment for the remainder of class.

HOMEWORK: Students will be asked to go to the class website.  Each group will have their own discussion board set up for them, and they are to spend some time discussing the film treatment.  Also, the Sunday gender paper is due the next day.
