"I don't Suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it!"
Our doubts are traitors, And make us lose the good we oft might win By fearing to attempt. William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616), "Measure for Measure", Act 1 scene 4
I like this quote because it hints to the idea that what this society calls normal is about the last thing I want to be!!! I first saw this quote scrolling across the screen of a former manager, I have used it ever since.
I choose this quote simply because it makes me sit back and think what if what if we hadnt had this war or that, what if I had paid more attention in elementary school, what if I hadnt done this or had done that. This world is full of potential; we need only reach for it. The worst that can happen is we fall or get told no, there is always another opportunity, but Creator will only show them to us if we try for them.
O, it is excellent to have a giant's strength; but it is tyrannous to use it like a giant. William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616), "Measure for Measure", 1604-1605
Now is the winter of our discontent Made glorious summer by this sun of York, And all the clouds that loured upon our house In the deep bosom of the ocean buried. Now are our brows bound with victorious wreaths, Our bruised arms hung up for monuments, Our stern alarums changed to merry meetings, Our dreadful marches to delightful measures. Grim-visaged war hath smoothed his wrinkled front; And now, instead of mounting barbed steeds To fright the souls of fearful adversaries, He capers nimbly in a lady's chamber To the lascivious pleasing of a lute. But I, that am not shaped for sportive tricks, Nor made to court an amorous looking-glass; I, that am rudely stamped, and want love's majesty To strut before a wanton ambling nymph; I, that am curtailed of this fair proportion, Cheated of feature by dissembling nature, Deformed, unfinished, sent before my time Into this breathing world, scarce half made up, And that so lamely and unfashionable That dogs bark at me as I halt by them,-- Why, I, in this weak piping time of peace, Have no delight to pass away the time, Unless to spy my shadow in the sun. William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616), "King Richard III", Act 1 scene 1
Our doubts are traitors, And make us lose the good we oft might win By fearing to attempt. William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616), "Measure for Measure", Act 1 scene 4 I wasted time, and now doth time waste me. William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616)
I Choose these quotes by William Shakespeare and Colonel Davis because I think with the current and recent activities in both the middle east and here on our own shores, it is important to keep a level head about these wars. The government may be reluctant to call it war but lets be honest for once, that is exactly what it is. When the twin towers in New York were bombed back in September of 2001, I was shocked and frightened, I couldnt believe that something so horrific could happen in our great country. Every time I think about the wars we have faught in the past, I always come back to the same conclusion We are all created equal, if man could only see this and stop striving to be BETTER, we could have a great world and work on more important things like world hunger, endangered animals, and our children!!!
You dont win hearts and minds by blowing up somebodys house. Colonel Dale Davis, Who are the Insugents? Brian Bennett, Time Magazine, November 24th, 2003
I choose these two quotes simply because they make me sit back and think what if what if we hadnt had this war or that, what if I had paid more attention in elementary school, what if I hadnt done this or had done that. This world is full of potential; we need only reach for it. The worst that can happen is we fall or get told no, there is always another opportunity, but Creator will only show them to us if we try for them.
