"Dimebag" Darrell Lance Abbott
August 20, 1966 - December 8, 2004
...And when (s)he died
I should've cried and spared myself some pain...
Left me incomplete
All alone as the memories still remain...

....The way we were
The chance to save my soul
And my concern now in vain
Believe the word
I will unlock the door
And pass the cemetery gates
Cemetery Gates
Pantera
1990
As you may know Dimebag was killed during a concert in Ohio on December 8th.  He was one of five people killed.  This is a huge tragedy for heavy metal music as a genre.  He will be greatly missed, not just by me, but by music lovers all over the world.
The five people were killed by 25-year-old Nathan Gale.  He ran on stage and opened fire.  It is reported that Dimebag was shot about 5 times.  The shooter was then shot two crowd members and was finally shot by a police officer.  Without that police officer, many more may have died or been wounded.
I remember the first time I heard Pantera.  My older bro, William had "Vulgar Display of Power" and we were listening to it on our way shopping in Sioux City about 40 miles away from our house.  I listened to it and loved it.  At Sioux City I bought "Far Beyond Driven" on cassette and still have it to this day.  The store clerk almost didn't let me buy it because he thought I was "too young," but he sold it to me.
That album changed my life.  It was catchy, heavy and overall greatness.  I listened to that cassette every time I had to mow and I knew the album front to back.  It also got me through tough times in my life.  I will never forget.

Far Beyong Driven CD left at the shrine at Alrosa Villa nightclub.
Have a drink for Dimebag.  His favorite was called Black Tooth Grin.
Two shots of whiskey, one shot of jager and dash of cola.
Dimebag was my greatest hero.  I even have a signature series guitar.  It's a Washburn DimeSlime 333 equiped with a D-Tuna.
