I am Kai, Kai I am by X6-711 aKa Kai 

My name is Kai. That's all, K-A-I, three little letters with so much history. I was born in Gillette, Wyoming in the year 2005. I was designated 332314184711. I was the only X6 to be created from the basic DNA makeup of an X5. I was the Second in Command to X6-601 AKA Zero. Zero was the protector of our group, the X6 generation. Our generation that HAD to be perfect. Colonel Lydecker and Director Renfro only cared that Manticore be kept running after the '09 escape. The X6's were expendable, moreso than the remaining X5's. The X5's escape and rebel, but they just get brainwashed and reprogrammed. If an X6 rebelled or attacked a tac leader we get killed. We already lost 10 of our soldiers due to a small mistake or breach of protocol. There isn't a night that goes by that I pray to whoever hears me that Raine, Paige, Darien, Zel, Alpha, Magnum, Li, Jonah, Gabriel, and Kale are okay on the other side. Manticore thinks they crushed all spirit and personality out of us. They forget we are human and no matter what we'll always be more than soldiers. I know only a select few of the X6's believe my theory, the only ones who have names. I gave everyone names in my head, even if they won't accept them. There's, Zero, me (Kai), Fixit, Ralph, Bullet, Blaze, Danielle, Dani, Jake, Pez, Zan, Eve, Ivy, Lane, Wes, Alin, Mari, Sakura, Anne, and Finn. Zero, Ralph, Fixit, Bullet, Eve, Ivy, Dani and I will accept names. The others only answer to their numbers and refuse to listen to my theories. I keep my mouth shut to most of them now in fear that they will report me to our superiors and I'll end up number eleven, I only confide in Zero. He is much more than my commanding officer, I feel something when I'm within him. It has no name to me, but it makes me feel warm and happy (both are scarce in this hellhole). I can see it in his blue eyes that he feels it too. I hope that Lydecker and Renfro don't notice the way me and Zero are together. I don't believe Lydecker will care, he feels that strong bonds between the soldiers create a stronger unit, while Renfro preaches that we only need ourselves and bonds make us weak. Personally, Director Renfro wouldn't know what a bond was to if it kicked her in the face. We are trained by both of them, Lydecker and Renfro (TWO antichrists!). Lydecker's kids were the X5's (I think Dir. Renfro found them to be too weak and too close to be considered "her" kids) and the X7's were Renfro's pride and joy (the X7's are creepy, evil, cold, closed minded, silent, and robots. I can see the family resemblance). We were both of theirs, but I can see that they both are proud of us. We show little independence and disobedience...in front of them. I swear it on my life, I HATE this place and one day I'll find a way out. I just hope I won't die trying. I am a soldier, a weapons expert, a fighter, an assassin, a friend, and Kai. I am Kai, X6-711, the only X6 made of X5 DNA. I guess that makes me special even if only Zero realizes it.
