Civil Rights Project

To complete the Civil Rights Project,  in addition to researching the individual events you must have an understanding of the whole Civil Rights Movement.  You are required to explain why the event or person is significant in the stuggle and relate it or them to the movement and its history.  General Civil Rights resources will help you with this.

General sources:

African American Odyssey

Excellent source from the Library of Congress.  Scroll down to IX Civil Rights, then look at both parts of the
exhibit.  Many of the topics are covered and include primary documents.

For most persons and events you may use the Student Resource Center.  The link to this resource is found on the Library's Main Page and at the top of the "Current Links" page.  Use keywords from the project sheet rather than the whole phrase given to you.  If you have any difficulty see the librarian for hints on keywords to use.
