| I am so excited to say I got to see Rick in indianapolis on Sept. 19! It was a second Rick road trip for me, and it was soooo worth it! :o) Before I start the story, I have a few thank you's: First, Sherri, thanks so much for all of your help in getting me to Indy and for convincing me to go (LOL). Also everyone should know what a HUGE heart Sherri has. She hand-delivered a TON of Branson pictures to me at the Indy show, and they were all GREAT pictures! WOO HOO! She does one amazing job with all of the pictures she takes. I will cherish those forever! And an even better thing was I was able to bring Sherri some much-needed straws (which I pray she did not have to break out on the way home! LOL!). Second, a BIG thank you to the person who sold me the tickets. I wasn't sure if you would want to be known through this story, so you know who you are. I owe you so much! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you did! Last, but in no way least, I thank my little sis Lesli for going to the concert with me. Lesli, I owe you so much for everything you did and continue to do for me. You are such a wonderful person for always being there for me. I appreciate you so much. I am so glad you went with me! :o) The journey begins! Lesli and I both had to work until 3 pm that Friday, so we were able to hit the road around 4:30. Luckily this was a much shorter trip than Branson (only 3 hours tops instead of 12!), so we made great time getting there. We had a slight issue with the mapquest/AAA directions because it said to turn right onto N. New Jersey Street--and there were TWO! LOL! After circling the block once, we turned on the CORRECT N. New Jersey Street and found probably the scariest guy EVER to park in his lot. I MUST give Lesli some props here because she was able to keep her cool over this guy and he seemed like he truly smoked his lunch, if ya know what i am saying! LOL! How we knew this guy was "out there": 1) The lots cost $8 to park. After Lesli asked him how much it cost and handed him a $10 bill, he gave her back a $5! 2) After we got out of the car we realized we had no film (more thanks goes to Sherri--AKA the Good Samaritan!). We asked Mr. Smoked My Lunch where the nearest place was to buy film. Rather than looking into our eyes, he kept checking his watch and looking directly at our chests while he spoke in telling us what stores were near the Murat! ROFL! And the funny thing was, he kept talking and talking to us like that. LOL! And finally 3) When we asked him where the entrance was to the Murat, he pointed directly across the street from where we were standing. That turned out to be incorrect and we had to walk all the way around to the other side of the building! Once we were there, Lesli and I ended up walking back to the car to make sure everything was still locked. Wonder why! LOL! We got inside and got our seats. We were 7th row, to the right. I was amazed how close we were. Rick did not have an opening act, which really surprised me, and the "Gathering" did not last as long as it did in Branson. "Affair of the Heart", each time it begins, still gives me the goose bumps. I also noticed Lance came out on stage in Indy, and I could have just hit myself for not bringing a Kritter for him to that show (Lance, if you are reading this, by any chance, a Kritter will be on its way to you, don't worry!) And the question you are all probably wondering, was there a new Kritter at the Indy show? YES! I made Rick a Scooby and dressed him in Vintage rick wear from 2000 - black dragon coat, black leather pants, black and silver beaded necklace, gold earring and a dark brown goatee! LOL! It turned out so cute and the sad part was, Lesli and i didn't get any pics of him before the show! :o( Rick did see the Vintage Rick Scooby during the show, when he was out in the crowd, but it was next to impossible to get where Lesli and I were. I waited until Rick went off stage (right before the encore) and got close enough to have some fellow fans help me out and throw Vintage Rick Scooby up on stage. A tremendously BIG thank you to those nice fans who helped me out - thank you so much! (Please let me know who you were, if you see this story!) Rick walks out on stage and sees the Vintage Rick Scooby. He shows it to Lance, as if to say, "Lookie what I got!" ROFL! It was cute! The Rick puts the Kritter on a speaker near Rodger, where it stayed for nearly the entire encore. At the end of "Love is Alright Tonite", Rick picked it up and put it on his right shoulder. So cute! And then he gave it to Ronnie to take with him! WOO HOO! How awesome is that??! I was lucky enough to see some old friends (so happy to see everyone!) and meet some new friends, too! I am so glad I finally got to meet (If I left anyone off, believe me it was not intentional): Natalie and her daughter, Alane, Kimberly, Tina, Stephanie, and our very own webmistress, Amy. Hope to see all of you again at another show! :o) So far, this looks to be my last Rick concert for awhile, unless I hit the lottery or Rick comes back to Ohio! ROFL! |
