| Okay, so you're probably wondering what Kristi's Kritters are. It is on this page where you will (hopefully) find some answers! :o) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| In the beginning... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| My great aunt Margaret is what I would call a MASTER at crocheting. She could create these amazing, elaborate afghans in little time. Watching her hands move so quickly and produce something so beautiful really inspired me to learn to crochet myself. I was nine years old, but I knew that crocheting would become a great part of my life. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Both Aunt Margaret and my mom taught me to crochet. Although I loved to create afghans, I wanted to make something that was uniquely my own, as well as being able to make something in a shorter time span. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I created a bear, the first ever animal I made, using my crocheting skills alone. I knew it was going to need much improvement, but I enjoyed the process of designing it myself and creating it with no pattern. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| As time went on, I began to hone my skills and try new things. It became not just a hobby to me, but the beginning of a life's work. I would make one animal, then begin another, using different processes. It would both frustrate and thrill me simultaneously the many discoveries I was making each time a new animal would be created. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Not the beginning, but some time after that.... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| After I came up with a pattern I truly loved, I made my late grandmother a dog. As all grandmothers do, she loved it. But little did I know what was in store after I gave it to her. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| She displayed that prominently on her living room sofa. It not only was something I made, just for her, but became a conversation piece for everyone that entered her apartment. Soon, those people were asking her how they could get one. I realized that this was something I had to pursue with all my heart and soul. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Not long after I began making the animals for people other than in my own family, my mom gifted me with a set of labels. On it, was my future company name, Kristi's Kritters. Kristi's Kritters was named by my mom. Because of her kindness and generosity, and her realization of how big my dream had become, Kristi's Kritters was born. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The present... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The present is always a good place to be. I can honestly say still I have my dream, as I have since the first day I picked up a crocheting needle. I am lucky because this dream has always been there and it keeps growing with each and every Kritter that is produced. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I have been fortunate enough to realize other dreams associated with my Kritters, as showcased on my Kritter Tales pages. Without the trials and errors with my Kritters in my lifetime of effort, I would not be where I am today, with the huge dream I have. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The future... | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I know I want to be doing Kristi's Kritters as a full-time business. That is my life's ambition. But I cannot do that without your help. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
