HALO and HAHO- HALO stands for high altitude low opening. HAHO stands for high altitude high opening. HALO and HAHO is free falling from an airplane. Training is three weeks long and taught at army airborne school. SEALS do this to get to difficult areas. Many times they jump into the ocean with their boat and equipment. It is a requirment for a SEAL trainee to have this training before becoming a SEAL. SEALS also learn how to repell from a helicopter rope suring this training. On a HALO jump the tempature is so low it often freezes goggles and also can freeze eyel lids shut. Jumping at high altitudes can cause sudden black outs, which is why on HAHO jumps if the SEAL doesn't pull the plug in specific time the chute will atuomaticly open . |
