| July 7, 2004 Not much time for gardening, but I fertilized all roses with Miracle Grow rose food this weekend. Also, the "day lilies" Marilyn gave me from Grammy's house aren't day lilies at all, as it turns out. They are crocosmia, my friends at hgtv's gardening board tell meand pretty little things they are, too, just beginning to bloom. |

| July 11, 2004 Today, I fertilized the cosmos and snapdragons with a slow-release fertilizer given to me by The National Gardening Club; I then fed all the other plants in the front bed, plus the primroses and lavender in front, with Miracle Grow fertilizer. I am anxious to lay down mulch, but don't have the money to buy it right now. I feel a bit like a grumpy old lady, but after the fifth time finding flowers snapped off plants in the front bed, I got pretty ticked. So, I painted some signs and posted them in the front bed, hoping to remind others that they are stealing personal property. Mary Mason came to Sweeney Todd opening night, and brought me a gorgeous miniature rose that's supposed to be hearty. It also smells delicious. I will plant it this week. |
