This weekend, I got a lot of gardening done. I weeded the
iris bed, and divided the iris. I planted the burgundy iris mom gave me; they were kinda wet and slimy, so they may not "take."  I saved a bunch of the gold/purple iris to give away to friends. I also weeded the back side bed, up to the debris heap. A huge job! When we are ready to put in the garden shed, I'll finish the job. Today, I sprinkled Preen over that entire area.

I ended up moving some
hostas, because they were obviously not happy. I'm not sure why, since they were often right next to happy hostas. I've had folks on gardening boards tell me that hostas are difficult to grow from root balls.

The
blueberry bushes are growing! At long last! Hopefully, a good pruning and fertilizing this fall will make them produce oodles next spring. The day lillies are beginning to bloom; I'm not sure if the ones I planted from Grammy's house are the same as the ones I already had yet.

My first
dahlia is blooming, and there will be more blooms soon. The two taller plants are both
Arabian Night Dahlia, first bloom.
Arabian Nights. I can't see the color of the buds on the smaller one (which is probably smaller because it was getting too much shade from the pink dogwood, which I've now pruned back), but I believe it's a Daytona. They are the only three dahlias that made it.

The Snow in Summer is really beginning to bloom now. It has spread considerably. The Passion Plant has had many blooms now; they seem to come in twos and threes, and don't last long. Interestingly, they just seem to fade away with no trace overnight. I haven't planted it yet, because after long debate, I've decided it needs to go on the garden shed; so I'm trying to keep it happy in a pot in the meantime.

This weekend, I also trimmed back the red roses in front of the dining room window. As usual, they were all over the place, trying to climb. They haven't been producing a great many blooms, either. So I cut them back to a reasonable size and have purchased Miracle Grow Rose Food. I also purchased all purpose flower food this weekend, and plan to feed the front bed. In addition, the roses I transplanted this spring and thought I killed are blooming beautifully. One is a pretty little pink thing. Now if hubby just doesn't kill it with vehicle fluids!

On a final note, the cherry tomatoes plant is full of tomatoes, just waiting to turn red!
