Estate Planning involves making decisions about what will happen when you reach the end of your life, or if you are incapacitated.

This process requires us to answer some very difficult questions:
++ What will happen to your possessions?
++ How will your children be taken care of?
++ Who will make financial decisions for you if you are unable to         make those decisions for yourself?
++ Who will make medical decisions for you if you are unable to          make those decisions for yourself?
If you need legal advice, you may send me an email at [email protected], or call me at 757-897-7985. If I am not able to answer the phone, please leave me a message and I'll contact you as soon as possible.

Be sure to include your contact information and some very basic facts about your situation.  I'll do some preliminary research and contact you as soon as possible to set up an appointment for a free consultation.

No legal relationship exists between Kristina Beavers and the client until the engagement letter has been signed by all parties.
Will: A Will is a document that only becomes valid after your death.  This document is the way you tell the world how you want your possessions to be distributed.  A Will allows you to make sure that your sister receives the special piece of jewelry that you inherited from your grandmother, or to make sure that your neighbor receives the picture that she admired.  If there is no valid Will, the state will distribute your possessions to your family members according to a prescribed hierarchy. My philosophy is that everyone should have a Will.
Trust: A Trust is an instrument that establishes legal ownership of property, but where that legal owner is required to handle the property to the benefit of those designated as 'beneficiaries'.  There are many advantages to a Trust, and many people believe that a Trust is the only valid way to handle property. My philosophy is that it is not always necessary to have a trust.  I believe that each situation should be evaluated on it's own merit.
Power of Attorney: A Power of Attorney is a way to give authority to someone else so that they can make decisions for you, or sign documents for you, when you are unable to make those decisions or sign those documents yourself.  A Power of Attorney can be very limited in scope, or it can be very broad. My philosophy is that everyone should have a Power of Attorney for Health Care Decisions and a Power of Attorney for Financial Affairs so that decisions can be made for you if you are incapacitated and unable to make those decisions yourself.
