TAIWAN

Oct. 1  Osaka to Taipei on Japan Asia Airways 211 10:20 - 12:00 noon
Oct. 1-15 in TAIPEI
This bustling city is the political and commercial capital of the Republic of China on the island of Taiwan and one of Asia's "little dragons," a center of rapid economic growth and mushrooming International trade.  In the midst of its modern facade, Taipei preserves China's traditional past.  We will visit the world famous National Palace Museum, the Fu Hsiung Peking Opera School, and the Confucian Temple.  In the heart of the city we will visit the Chiang K'ai-shek Memorial.  We will participate in some of the official festivities for Double Ten (October 10), the national holiday which celebrates the founding of the Chinese Republic with a major parade and a spectacular fireworks display.  Our accommodations at the Chien Tan Youth Activity Center are within easy access to the important cultural sites of the city.  Field trips are planned to the national park at Yeiliu on the beautiful north coast and to a rural village which reflects Taiwan's agricultural modernization policies.
