| Working with herbs can be very effective and a lot of fun too if you decide to grow your own. Growing your own herbs can be challenging, but when you use them for spells or for cooking they will have your energy in them and be much better than any herbs you could buy. Below is a small list of some herbs and their magickal properties. You can use these in your spells with stones as well, or in candle magick. Be creative and have fun! Alfalfa- Protects against poverty & hunger, very healthy when eatern (but not real tasty!) Allspice- Burn as incense to attract money or luck. Can be added to other mixtures Aloe Vera- Guards against evil influences & prevents house-hold accidents. Basil- Love, exorcism, flying protection. Brings wealth to those who carry it in their pockets. Smell is used to soothe tempers. Bay Leaves- Place under your pillow to induce prophetic dreams, or burn it to induce visions. Write a wish on a leaf then burn it to make the dream come true. Caraway- Protects against evil spirits & absorbs negativity. An object holding caraway is theft-proof. Seeds used to encourage fidelity & placed in sachets to attract love. Chewing seeds is helpful to gain love of one you desire. Can strengthen memory. Catnip- Used for cat magick. Cinnamon- Burn it to increase spiritual vibrations. Heals, draws money and used for love. Cloves- Burned as incense can stop gossip about you. Worn or carried attracts love. Coriander- Wear to ease your headaches. Cumin- When carried brings piece of mind. Place seeds in an object to keep it from being stolen. Ferns- Carry it to lead you to treasures. Also for protection, love and luck. Garlic- Healing and protection. Ginger- Add to spells to make them more effective, either in the spell, or eat it. Used in some love spells. Hawthorn- When carried promotes happiness in those who are troubled, sad or depressed Marigold- Picked at noon strengthens the heart. In the bath, gain respect of those you meet Mint- Money, luck , travel, sex magick, mental power. Peppermint- Love, healing, purification, psychic power. Rosemary- Purify, protect and exocerise. Sleep and memory aid. Sage- Protection, healing, wealth, knowledge, wisdom, granting of wishes, fertility, spells for business prosperity. Skullcap- Worn by a woman to protect her mate from the charms of another woman Spearmint- Scent increases mental awareness and power Thyme- Prevents nightmares. Burn to purify and area. If worn may aid in seeing fairies. |
