Classroom Management
The rules, consequences, and rewards are covered the first day of school and a copy given to students. Students and parents will sign a copy of this document. Procedures will be discussed and practiced amply during the beginning of the school year and as needed.  Parents are given a copy of procedures and they can also be found on the website.
Primary Grades Intermediate/Middle Grades
RULES:
1. When the teacher or another student is   
    talking we are listening.
2. Raise your hand and wait to be called on.
3. Keep hands and feet to yourself.
4. Follow directions the first time.
5. Always be learning!

CONSEQUENCES:
1. Warning & mark off
        - 3 marks during the week and Fun
          Friday time is lost
2. Work alone - seperate from the group
4. Note and/or call to parent(s)
5. Principal's office - referral

REWARDS:
10 minutes on Friday for socializing, games, and prizes. Every day students can earn an extra minute gaining 15 by Friday. Prizes earned through extra good behavior = classroom dollars.  $5 = pencil, $20 = pack of gum, for example.

Whole class - earn extra minutes for Fun Friday or if off task = homework with pop quiz the next day!
CONSEQUENCES:

3. Loss of free-time
4. Note and/or call to parent(s)
5. Principal's office - referral

REWARDS:
Two ten minute free-time periods a day; one before lunch and one before dismissal.  Being on task equals extra minutes for free-time. At the end of the day extra minutes turn into marbles. When the marble jar is full they earn a special party.
*Students with B/EDs will have a personal plan with more short-term, daily incentives.*
We discuss why these rules are needed, why each rule will help the students succeed, and will role play in the lower grades. I also show a Power Point presentation the first day in my classroom about myself, what we'll be learning, and on our classroom procedures. We then practice, practice, practice!
