INTRODUCTION
     In the novel
Holes by Louis Sachar, the main character-Stanley Yelnats-encounters bullies, learns to survive among strangers, is punished for something he hasn't done, discovers an unfair juvenile justice system in his state, learns to cope in difficult situations, and becomes a new person as he uncovers what a real friend means to him.
As a teenager, you too have to learn to survive in the world with the help of parents, friends, family, teachers, and others.  The music you listen to, the T.V. programs you watch, and the movies you see all seem to be telling you how you should act and look.  Outside forces constantly pressure you about behavior, appearance, choices, etc.
