I first heard about charter schools last March, when I read an article in Time Magazine about schools for profit.  I was disgusted by the idea of schools making a profit for a company.  I could not imagine that a school for profit would care about the quality of education that students received.  I also could not believe that any decent teacher would want to teach in a school that was for profit, and not purely for education.
