Israel Trip~ May - July 2000
Below is an aerial photo of Tel Kedesh before the excavation began. It's located in the Upper Galilee (see map below). It wass the largest unexcavated tel site the the Upper Galilee. This excavation project was a joint endeavor by the University of Michigan and the University of Minnesota. The site is known in the Bible as a "city of refuge" and it was my refuge and savior during the summer of 2000.
This is Kam, Natalie and I at En Gedi, a nature reserve located near the Dead Sea. This is a picture of one the waterfalls you can lounge around in. The place is amazing.
This is me and a very cool Ballista at Gamla another archeaological site near the Sea of Galilee. The Romans conquered the city using weapons like this.
This is my trench on the last day I was working at the site. This is the CB 2.4 trench crew: Suzan, Laura, Melissa, Mike, Me (in pit), Adam, and Scott.
CB 2.4 the first week of digging on the Tel.
During the Masada Sunrise Tours, we stopped and saw St. Georges Monastry. It is bulit into the side of the mountains. The picture is kind of bad.
This Roman cookpot was found in my trench (CB 2.4). I got the opportunity to put it back together. It has a complete rim and profile of the cookpot. It was a great experience and launched me into wanting to become a curator.
Map of Israel, Tel Kedesh is located in the North. Right on the border of Lebanon and Israel. Red dot indicates site.
The girls enjoy a drink in the Old City (Jerusalem). This was my last night in Jerusalem. It was a blast getting *tipsy* with the girls. Pictured: Lindy (5 sheck), Me, Mary, and Megan.
