Maria Montessori

The "prepared environment" is Maria Montessori's concept that the environment can be designed to facilitate maximum independent learning and exploration by the child since children have natural learning tendencies.  It creates an atmosphere where children teach themselves.

Each child is born with a blank slate thus making each experience a child has a new learning experience.  ("tabula rasa" or blank slate)
