I knew a little girl
Way back when
When things began
And nothing came to an end
I watched her grow
From infant to child
Never knowing
Her father would go wild
I heard her cries
I heard her screams
All through the night
She was in my dreams
I knew a little girl
she was as pretty as can be
we were friends forever
and she looked up to me
this little girl
was beaten and torn
she hated life
and wished she hadn't been born
daddy'd hit her
he'd make her scream
she refused to sleep
afraid of what she may dream
i knew a little girl
she grew up way too fast
she ran away
but she came back at last
this little girl
didn't know her fate
she never realized
Til it was too late
i knew a little girl
with broken dreams and goals
and as a teen
all she did was smoke bowls
the circle would continue
no matter what she did
she tried her hardest
but she did the same to her kid
her daughter would scream
as tears fell from her eyes
and she would just stare
watching her daughter cry
i knew a little girl
and i remember her well
especially her disappointment
when i wouldn't tell
she was in the paper
and it was all quite sad
her little girl died
all because of our dad
they're trying her for murder
for the death of her daughter
but it wasn't her fault
she only did what daddy taught her
i knew a little girl
i didn't help her then
but i'll help her now
to bring it all to an end.

I know a little girl
hair the color of gold
daddy never wanted her
so she was sold
she never knew
neglect or abuse
all she ever knew
was being used
she'd cry all night
til she fell asleep
she never realized
she was hurt down deep
today she ran awy
i don't blame her
i would've too
i couldn't have stayed
she was raped
and stripped of her innocence
they pulled the trigger
and threw her over a fence
her body's buried
her dreams shattered
deep down inside
i know she was tattered
daddy came to her grave
there were tears in his eyes
for once in my life
i saw him cry
he said a silent prayer
and laid flowers down
then turned his back
heading towards town
they say the light was red
and he just didn't stop
who was to know
he'd hit that shop?
he was soon buried
next to his daughter
and all was forgiven
About what he taught her

Most little girls
Dream of dolls and teddy bears
Lollipops and chocolate cake
Pretty dresses and long curls
They dream of gifts on their birthday
Or the colorful bright lights at Christmas
But I guess I'm not like most little girls
My dreams are filled with longing
Longing for my mommy to brush my hair
Or my daddy to push me in my swing
For them to read a bedtime story
Or just to be there when I fall and bruise my knee
Grandma says they are asleep in heaven
She promises I'll see them again someday
So I hope and pray that it happens soon
"Mommy
Daddy
Please come home
I love you."
