DEATH (PART I)
Story by Daisy

You begin to die the day you were born…some just die sooner than others.

Chapter Seven

Ebony watched silently from her car as Kevin walked out the door of his home. His walk had a slight hop to it. Probably made up with her, Ebony thought. She smiled eerily. Too bad you won’t be able to see your wife any more…or your son! Ebony watched as Kevin started his car. She listened to her idle engine and put the gear in drive, prepared to follow Kevin to wherever he was going.

She waited until he had gotten to the end of the street before she began following him. It was a little risky to follow him in the broad daylight of the early afternoon, but her mind was not worried about that. She was dreaming about the moment when she would seek her revenge on Kevin. When she would let herself be known to him just before she snuffed the last breath from his wonderful body.

She watched him drive into the underground parking area of the arena where they were practicing. She smiled when she saw that there were no guards. And no light. She turned off her headlights and followed him through the dark parking tunnel. She slowed when he parked. She didn’t bother to park her own car, just left it with its quiet engine running in the aisle so she could make her easy escape.

She jumped out of her car, her steps quick and silent. She arrived beside Kevin’s car just as he was about to get out. She fastened her gloves tighter on her hands and waited anxiously for him to step out of his car. It seemed like forever as Kevin’s door slowly opened. When there was just enough room for her to slip though the door, Ebony sprung into action.

“Hello lover,” her voice was eerily unnatural. Kevin turned, confused, in her direction. She jumped on him, sending him flying back in the car. Her strength was immense for a woman of her small stature. She slammed the door shut behind her and pushed Kevin down on the car seat, straddling him.

“What the--?” Kevin began, but Ebony pressed her lips down upon his.

“Hello lover,” she said once again, her voice low and seductive. Kevin’s body tensed beneath hers as he struggled to get out of her grasp.

“Sarah, what are you doing?” His voice was strained as Ebony knelt on his stomach to pin him down to the seat of the car.

          “This isn’t Sarah, lover.”

“Why are you calling me lover?!” Kevin struggled beneath her, trying to free himself, but Ebony had made this impossible. She had his arm pinned between the two front seats, twisting it until it almost snapped. His other arm was pinned underneath his body. The weight of his body, her body, and the painful way that his arms were positioned was enough to make Kevin’s arms useless. He tried to kick her, but when he raised his legs, they slammed into the steering wheel.

Ebony let out a frightening laugh at his desperate attempt to save himself. She lowered her body along the length of his, using one arm to support herself, the other to turn on the overhead lights of the car.

“Recognize me lover?” She asked, her face aglow with eagerness to kill him. She watched Kevin’s face as he searched his memory, but he came up with nothing. “Jonathan!” She screamed at him, sitting up and angling her face so that it was entirely lighted. Kevin’s face paled in the dim light. Ebony laughed, titling her head upward.

“Oh, Kevin. It’s too bad that you had to kill my brother.”

“But I didn’t kill him!” He cried.

“Oh but you did! You didn’t help him when he got caught on the weeds at the bottom of the lake!” Ebony reached into her shirt.

“But we never knew!” He watched as she pulled a shining object out of her shirt, knowing that it would be his fate. He watched as she fondled it in her hands, turning it over and over, contemplating just how she would insert it in his body.

With one swift move, Kevin jerked his torso, causing Ebony to lose her balance. In the one split second that she was tossed off of him, Kevin was able to retrieve one of his arms. Ebony saw this and immediately slashed the one that had gotten free. Kevin screamed in pain and stared at the knife, which now had a thin line of blood on it.

Ebony stared hard at him. Kevin looked into her crazed eyes and knew that no matter how hard he fought she would eventually kill him. He looked at his arm, at the blood spoiling the seat of his car. He tried to move it, but found that she had slashed the tendon, making it lifeless. He stared back at her, his eyes filled with fear, and waited for it to end.

“Ebony please,” Kevin begged. “Why are you doing this?” His voice was high and strained from pain.

“Revenge.” She said the word with reverence. She’s insane, Kevin thought as he watched her close her eyes in respect. Her eyes flew open again and were focused intently on him.

“Oh Kevin, Kevin, Kevin.” She shook her head and readjusted the knife in her hand. He watched, helpless, as she gradually brought it towards his heart. She smiled victoriously at him, watching the fearful expression on his face. She watched, intrigued, as his expression went from fear to a vague acceptance of his fate as she neared the knife.

He winced as he felt the point of the knife press against his body. Ebony cocked her head with false sympathy as she dug the knife painfully slow into his chest, reveling in his every groan of pain.

“Shhh,” she murmured as he choked on the blood that began to fill his mouth. She leaned her face inches in front of his and smiled as she watched the life slowly fade from his body. In one last breath, Kevin’s eyes bulged, then slowly faded away from the world. Ebony pushed the rest of the knife fiercely into chest, screaming like a warrior as she did.

She gave a slight chuckle. She stared at Kevin for a moment, wishing that she had thought to bring a camera and making a mental note to do so the next time. His head had fallen to the right, his eyes open. His mouth was twisted with pain and blood still dripped from it. It’s too bad that he had to spoil such a good looking car, Ebony thought, backing off of him and opening the door with a blood-covered glove. She walked briskly to her own car and pulled off the gloves, holding them in her mouth as she dropped them into a plastic bag along with the knife. She could taste Kevin’s blood in her mouth and remembered with sweet satisfaction the final look on Kevin’s face.
